Material Palette will find the accent colors after two primary colors are chosen. This will give you a basic color palette to explore. Additionally, once the color palette is chosen, when you click on the color, the hex code will then be copied directly to you keyboard for use. I'm hoping to use this tool in particular to find fun color schemes for gaming apps.

The past week was spent doing more research in order to begin building our app.

Jon: Jon has been refining his Adobe XD skills and designing mockups to become familiar with Adobe XD. He has built a second mockup for Lorca (a local coffee shop) after a critique of the first version. After this week he will begin to build a mockup and wireframe for NYAD. He also read Robin Williams' "The Non-Designer's Design Book" and incorporated his findings into the his newest design.

Emily: As stated prior, Emily is our head programmer. Emily has been playing around with Javascript and Angular JS in order to become familiar with the program. She is going through the official AngularJS tutorial. She is planning to apply for a LinkedIn API once she has the basic development prototype.

Arturo: I have been doing more market research. I completed the survey and once the group approves it will be distributed around school. I also created on a SWOT analysis for our brand and for our competitors. I am also looking for ways to improve communication between the team.

Current Status of my APP

I have been using MITappinventor for creating my app. I have done wireframing for my app on paper before actually starting to put together my app. So far I've gotten a pretty good gist of the things I wanted to include in my app but have had some troubles figuring out a way to make the App "community driven". This is because I have not found a way to add a couple of components that would shift the use of the app from an information based app to a community-based app where the information displayed is based on the people who use the app instead of the information I manually had to put in. I believe my next step is to add these components to my app which include a rating system (like on Netflix), a comment system (like on Youtube), and a "sort by" feature (like on Amazon or IMDb). Having these things would make the app do exactly what I would like it to do because then users would be able to search for a genre of TV shows like "comedies" and be able to filter their search to be organized from "highest rated tv show to lowest rated tv show" while having the understanding that all the shows being searched are rated by the community and not companies, and so they can trust that the ratings are accurate to the opinions of the community. This is what I want my app to do, to inform viewers about what TV shows are interesting to watch completely based on the community's' opinions. To do this I also need to add a system that allows users to upload new shows they encounter therefore if I have users I would probably need them to create an account on the app. Maybe I can connect them through their google accounts or simply have them create an account specific to the App. There is a lot of work I need to do on my part (a lot of figuring out, but I am really interested in creating this App and so I am just going to work harder to complete it). That's all I have for this week.
       

MOBILE DEVELOPMENT TODAY

I had a MD appointment scheduled in New Haven that i could not re-schedule. So i would like to push our update due dates to Monday for the Mobile Projects. Remember we have about two more weeks of development when we will have Works in Progress Presentations where you highlight what your team/project has learned, challenges you have encountered, APIs or frameworks that are successful and an/all prototyping tools that you are having issues or success with.

So please use today;s class time to meet with your groups and continue on the development path for your project. 

I am very excited by the work i am seeing so far and the areas of investigation that you all have come up with are wonderful. 

I am sure you will continue and make the most of this work time and have to survive without my lecture today :-)

NYAD Update (Emily, Jon, Arturo)

As we mentioned in our previous post, each team member has different duties.

Jon: UI
Emily: Develpment
Arturo: Marketing/Research

The past week Jon has been using Adobe DX to create UI mockups. Hes been making fake mockups so he team can familiarize with his artistic style. He has also taken a look at some Lynda lessons on UI design.

Emily finished her Javascript review and has been working on exercises to improve her Javascript proficiency. She has been looking at many resources and will make the app using Angular Js.

I, Arturo, have become familiar with qualtrics, a software used for building questionnaires. I have been working on a set of questions to ask current DMD students to gauge their interests.

One of the major app decisions we made this week was deciding not to have User Profiles. The main reasoning behind this is that we don't have enough knowledge on security to apply it to the app.

The article speaks to people who are expressing a need to have their photos geotagged in a more organized and easy to access fashion. While your iPhone can mark your photo's location by using location services, there is a smaller platform for photographers using DSLR cameras to have their photos "geotagged." The article nudges users to check out Geotag Photos Pro, which comes in app and desktop form that can track a person's location and routes. I kind of wanted to take the idea of this app, and use it as a model for my own app.

Hi!

I just wanted to give you guys an update on the progress of my project, as I just realized that we were supposed to do this on Monday. This week, I continued the Swift/iOS class I am taking online at the Flatiron School. I have also began experimenting with Quartz Composer, as per Professor Pagano's recommendation and textbook. I am not sure yet as to where these two directions intersect, but I expect to have a clearer picture of my options for realizing my proposal by the end of this week, and I will update this blog accordingly.
