App Update: What I have accomplished.

Not sure if anyone in the class knows but I ended up continue the project by myself. I am still doing my hat design app idea I have originally started with. I ran to many problems one being Proto.io. All the proto.io is a good tool, it is exactly a good tool nothing more. It will not help much in the actually app building in development /coding but in ways of helping the user to prototype what the basic idea of the apps appearance and little functionality. I was unable to go any further than that in proto.io and because I put a lot of time in it before realize that it would not help me later I was force to go another route, the route of Xcode and learning Script. As I continue to work through Xcode, even though it is harder I am getting much more in depth for my application. My application can't even be called app just yet seeing I am now just getting the user sign in and sign up going. I have a long way to go and I do plan on continuing this app. I believe in it.
Things I learned:

  • Do RESEARCH! And when you did that DO MORE!
  • Always be open to others opinions even those outside of the project because ultimately they will either choose to use or not to use your app and the user matters
  • Do not procrastinate
  • Try to get a mixture of people with different strength on your team to help feel any void that you can not do or someone can do better.
  • Being able to listen.
  • Do more frequent updates.
  • Set Goals and actually try to reach them.
  • Never fully through out a idea
  • Youtube will be your best friend
  • etc...

Overall great experience, sort of wished it could have worked out with my partner.

App Update

Well we have hit a wall with Proto.io. It end up being a waste of money well sort off. We kind of figured out what we want the app to look like, but failed to make it more than just a prototype. The application we were using only lets you prototype the app and doesn't really let you do anything more but from our understanding we thought it would. Now I have decided to start looking at Swift and Xcode. I am no pro at programming but I have been doing some research that will hopefully help us out. I am watching some youtube videos for help. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.

-Thanks Guys

Tylt Update

Tyrrell, Juwan, and Bao-Anh

Tylt, the app nears completion after making considerable progress within the last month. The process began with a lot of heavy coding in Unity and mapping out the game in maze built in Blender. Development began to debug the game and ensure that the physics were in proper order. The game is now fully functional on both the tablet and computer. Concurrently, the design process has begun to create a more visually appealing and coherent theme. Prints and sound tracks are being made to create a theme centered on an around the world type of adventure, with the completion of each level taking the player to a new location. The plan is to continue work on creating layouts for up to seven levels, one for each geographic region of the world e.g. New York, Tokyo, the Serengeti, Paris, the Amazon, and so on.

NYAD App Update #17

Since our last update we have worked focused on more skills development.
  • Arturo has been working on CSS skills and has began to shift into the role of Development Support
  • Jon has been tweaking the design of the app and editing improving fluidity and user interface.
  • Emily has shifted from Node to Ionic. This will speed up visible production.
  • Matt is doing more research on agencies and organizing data.
  • The App is officially named NYAD.

NYAD App Update

JON: Jon had worked on a design sketch for the app itself this week instead of a practice design.  This week, he will be working on adapting the prototype design that developed as a result of Emily's work over the weekend. Specifically, the look of the Listings page filters as well as the display of locations on the single Agency pages.

ARTURO and MATT: Both will be working on the presentation for Wednesday, as well as adding some agencies to the spreadsheet we have been keeping.

EMILY: Worked on developing the project as a web application. The following is a "todo" list for more functionality:

  • Automate the "categories" and "locations" radio buttons
  • Finding relevant APIs (such as a maps service for finding relative distance from a location)
Eventually, the following have been planned out:
  • Service Worker integration for saving previous searches
  • A mySQL server for handling the database content
  • A PHP frontend for the mySQL server
  • Developing the app using Ionic framework

App Update:

Christopher Glenn
Kadeem Sweeney

Currently:
We have created a layout of our app using: Proto.io

  • Every time we think we have a idea we change it because we feel different about the look.         I think we need to go back the drawing board and make things clear for what our app is all about and  how to attract the average user.

  • We are starting to work on some of the functionalities of the app on proto.io but soon we will need  to leave this application aside to go more in depth of what we really want in the app we are creating.

  • Any good references from anyone? Open for suggestions...

 Our Next Goal:
After finalizing the look and getting the maximum functionality ability we get from proto.io we will move to a more advanced application to get into the nitty gritty of our Hat Design Application.

  • Work on the actually name of the app
  • Start connecting with some hat designers in our area and if we can outside of our area
  • Get opinions about our design from other and what can make it better
  • Think of more things to improve in all aspects
